Our Purpose

Devotions:
What is God's purpose for you to be on the earth? Why are you here? The Westminister Confession states, "That it is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever." How do we glorify God? By believing on Him who He has sent. To believe on Him who He has sent is to believe in the work of redemption. Jesus did a finished, complete work. We can add nothing to it and we can take nothing away from it. So our purpose is to believe in our completed redemption. It is to rest in what God has done and to be assured of our salvation that God has totally accomplished for us. Our job is not to do but to yield to God within us. We bring God glory by believing in what God has done.
The second part of this is to enjoy God forever. To enjoy God you must know that you are totally forgiven and the righteousness of God. You must know that God accepts you totally based on the work that God did in Jesus.
To glorify God and enjoy Him you must know Him. Christianly is based on relationship, not rules. God is perfect and demands perfection which we cannot do but which He provides in Jesus.
