Devotions:
God is the origin of the church. Churches are not perfect because people are not perfect. But God ordained the church as an instrument to perfect us. As we commit to each other in love, esteeming others as of more honor than ourselves. God has called us to be bound to each other in love of God and to lift each other up. If we are not in church and committed to the church we will never fulfill our call that God has for us. We will always have part undeveloped parts to our character. We are to be committed to the church which God has called us.
“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:” Ephesians 4:11-15 KJV
As we are subject to the anointings of these offices God uses them to mature us and equip us to fulfill the ministry that God has for us. God has set these offices as gifts in the church to teach and guide us.
If we are not committed to a local body then we are uncovered. When we are uncovered we can easily become defiled. The enemy can come in and bring havoc into our lives because we are uncovered.
God's desire is that we be protected and successful. We must stay in the church and be committed. This is God's plan and God's way. When we try to do it in a different way we are saying that we are smarter than God.
