Seeking the Lord

“Uzziah was sixteen years old when he began his fifty-two-year reign in Jerusalem. His mother was Jecoliah of Jerusalem. He did right in the Lord's sight, to the extent of all that his father Amaziah had done. He set himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the things of God; and as long as he sought (inquired of, yearned for) the Lord, God made him prosper" 2 Chronicles 26:3-5 AMP
Here we see the author of the book of Chronicles make a very interesting statement about King Uzziah, that as long as he sought the Lord, God made Him prosper. God is no respecter of people. What He did for King Uzziah, He will do for anyone. This is not just talking about actions, it is talking about a heart attitude. It says that he set himself to seek God. The Amplified says to seek is to inquire of, and yearn for. When our desire is for more of God we will seek Him and God says that if we seek Him with all or our heart we will find Him. It is God's presence in a friendly way that brings prosperiety in all that we do. Joseph prospered in all that he did because God was with him, even in prison. Notice what got him thrown into prison was his refusal to compromise his intergity in the face of great temptation and pressure. He was not even born again and he made a stand for righteousness, a stand for God. He was a seeker of God and God prospered him.
Are you a seeker of God in all your ways. Have you come to realize that your life is not your own. When it was your own before you came to Christ, you made a mess of it. Never stop seeking God. Uzziah got into trouble when he stopped seeking God and go puffed up with pride.
