Miracle Working Power Needed
Devotions:
Christians are given the job to go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creatures. In Acts 8 Philip went into Samaria and preached Christ to them. Which Christ are we to preach. If all that we preach is the historical Christ then we will fall short. We are not testifying to a historical figure only but to the resurrected Christ who is here and will demonstrate His presence. God wants to work through us to demonstrate the life of Christ. If all we do is proclaim a historical Christ then there are always intellectual arguments against what we say. But if we demonstrated the risen Christ consistently, there is no argument that will hold up and even then some people will refuse to believe. With all the miracles that Jesus did the Pharisees and Saddusees refused to believe His message.
“"Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know-” Acts 2:22 NASB
“And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed.] [ And they promptly reported all these instructions to Peter and his companions. And after that, Jesus Himself sent out through them from east to west the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation. ]”
Mark 16:20 NASB
The baptism in the Holy Spirit is the anointing under which Jesus operated to do the work that is assigned to us. We must learn to walk as His dwelling place, cognizant of His presence. This is not always feeling His presence but having the faith that He is with always. As we practice yielding to His presence by daily praying in the Spirit, praying in tongues, we experiencially learn to yield to God. God works the miracles, all we do is yield.
