As He Is

Devotions:
“Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.” I John 4:17 NKJV
Of major importance in our Christian walk is our identity. Here John says that we are one with Christ. As He is so are we in this world. In John 17 we are told that the Father loves us even as He loves Jesus. So Jesus' experience on earth should be our experience. We unfortunately see ourselves as less worthy of walking the way that Jesus walked. Jesus walked free from all sickness and disease. Sickness and disease came in with the sin of Adam. Jesus was born sinless and committed no sin. Sickness and disease had no hold on Him because He was sinless. Sickness and disease then is to have no hold on us because we have received His sinlessness when He took our sin on the cross.
Poverty is a part of the curse that came through sin. Jesus was not subject to the curse because He had no sin. Our prosperiety is because He became our sin that we might become His righteousness. When the Father looks upon us He sees Jesus and He sees the blessings that rest on Jesus also resting upon us. We should see ourselves as walking in the full blessings of the Father not because of what we do but becasue of what Jesus did and that we are in Him by the new birth.
When contrary conditions try to come upon us we should vehemently resist them because that is not who we are. All too often we accept the circumstances because inside we see ourselves as deserving the curse because we have sinned. We must deal with this guilt by accepting God's forgiveness in Christ Jesus. Throw off the condemnation because Jesus bore our sins in His own body on the tree. When we receive the gift of eternal life, the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set us us free from the law of sin and death. We are to be convinced of our posistion in Christ Jesus and our identity in Christ Jesus. Then we can walk in confident expectation of God's blessing in all of our life, relationships and our body.
