Cleansed

Devotions:

“For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:14‬ ‭NASB‬‬

The law says this do and you shall live.  If you disobey death awaits you.  Grace is the underserved, unmerited favor of God.  In grace is total forgiveness.  When someone sinned under law there was condemnation, guilt and shame.  Under grace there is forgiveness and expunging of all guilt.

“Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had consciousness of sins?” ‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:2‬ ‭NASB‬‬

If we have been completely cleansed of sin then we should eliminate sin, guilt, condemnation from our thinking.  When we sin we need to confess that we are the righteousness of God in Christ.  We say that we have been forgiven.  Condemnation will keep us in bondage prone to repeat the offense again.  We are not under law but under grace.  When we sin we need to look at ourselves and ask, where are we condemning ourselves? Where do we feel guilty? The condemnation and the guilt reveal where we have put ourselves under the law.  The law can never liberate people.  It is only a measuring stick to see if we measure up to God.  In ourselves we do not meet God's standard but Jesus does not only for Himself but for us also.  When we allow sin to be our master it is because we have not fully received His forgiveness for us.

When we miss it and sin, say thank you Jesus that you have forgiven all my sins and made me the righteousness of God. Say this numerous times everytime you feel guilty.

Sin is a cruel task master whose job is to kill you but you do not have to be it's slave.
