Devotions :
“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”” Hebrews 8:10-12 NKJV
God made a covenant with Israel under Moses which none of them kept. This was a covenant which was to point them to Jesus, the Messiah. In the new covenant which He made with Israel He also brought in the Gentiles, us. We are a part of Israel today because in Jesus we are seed of Abraham and heirs of the covenant.
In the new covenant we no longer follow laws written on stone but God put His laws in our mind and wrote them on our heart. That is God put in us an understanding of His laws in our mind and and gave us the desire to follow those laws when He wrote them on our hearts. This is the eternal life that He gave us at the new birth so that we no longer walk by outward laws but by the life of God within us. We must teach ourselves to be spiritually aware instead of body aware. Our physical senses dominate us. They were given to monitor the conditions around us but they were never meant to be our god's. Following the desires of the flesh will destroy us.
God said that He would take personal responsibility over us, He would be our God and we would be His people. He takes responsibility to feed us, cloth us, provide a place for us to live and protect us. He is our shepherd. But we must take Him as our God and not some after thought or fire insurance,
He says that we will all know Him from the least to the greatest. If you are a Christian you are not following a philosophy or good teaching or principles but you have a relationship with the Father, Creator God who cares for you affectionately and watches over you diligently. He is merciful to our unrighteousness and our sins and our lawless deeds He remembers no more. There is nothing standing between us and the Father except Jesus who is the way to the Father. Jesus is the open door to the Father because He has already paid the full price for our sins. This is your covenant, rejoice and be glad.
