Hungering or Full

Devotions:

'As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?"

(‭Psalms‬ ‭42‬:‭1-2‬ KJV)

"O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;" (‭Psalms‬ ‭63‬:‭1‬ KJV)

"Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." (‭John‬ ‭4‬:‭13-14‬ KJV)

"For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." (‭John‬ ‭6‬:‭33-35‬ KJV)

We unknowingly get so much of our theology from the Old Testament and we do not make the distinction between the Old Testament and the New Testament.  We do not understand what Jesus did on the cross.

Here are two Old Testament passages talking about hungering after God but Jesus said that if we come to Him and drink of His blood and eat of His flesh we would never hunger again.  To partake of His work on the cross is to continuoulsy dwell in His presence and the presence of the Father.  It is to continuously live in revival not by our power but by His, not by our works but by His.

When  we begin to hunger and thirst for God we need to stop and rest in that He died for me so that I might continuously be in the presence of My Father.
