To Know God

Devotions:
"They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed." (Titus 1:16 NASB)
"Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame." (1 Corinthians 15:33-34 KJV)
Paul says that as we walk in intimacy with God through the gift of righteousness that we will drop sin from our behavior. Our striving is to know God not to reform our behavior. Changed behavior comes from changed belief. Changed beliefs comes from being in His presence and being receptive to Him. Judas was in Jesus' presence but he was not changed. He ended up betraying Jesus.
"And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath." (Mark 4:24-25 KJV)
Only as we give preference to the word of God do we receive from the word of God. Only as we give preference to the presence are we changed by His presence. So Paul says to awaken from our sleep, awaken unto our righteousness that is the gift from God and act like we believe that we are who God says we are. This is demonstrated by our turning from sin. We are believing in His love for us. We are receiving His love for us!
