Devotions:
"Immediately Jesus, perceiving in Himself that the power proceeding from Him had gone forth, turned around in the crowd and said, 'Who touched My garments?' And His disciples said to Him, "You see the crowd pressing in on You, and You say, 'Who touched Me?'""
(Mark 5:30-31 NASB)
We have the presence of God within us if we are born again. When we have a worship service the manifest presence of God is very tangible and yet many people do not receive their needs met. The presence of God is everywhere on the earth but people are still dying of hunger and sickness and disease. God wants to heal and provide but as with this woman, it takes faith to activate power of God to meet our needs. When we learn how to activate our faith we will receive from God what we need in every area of life.
"A woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years, and had endured much at the hands of many physicians, and had spent all that she had and was not helped at all, but rather had grown worse- after hearing about Jesus, she came up in the crowd behind Him and touched His cloak. For she said, "If I just touch His garments, I will get well." Immediately the flow of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction."
(Mark 5:25-29 NASB)
This woman gained faith by hearing about Jesus and His healing ministry. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of Christ. She then spoke her faith, "For she said, If I just touch His garments, I will get well." That was her faith speaking! She could have said, "What is the use? The doctors could not heal me, I guess I will never get well." And she would have been right. What you say sets the path for your life. She then acted on her faith by pressing through the crowd to do what she had said, touch the hem of Jesus' garment. Under the Law of the Jews it was an offense deserving of stoning if a woman with an issue of blood were to be caught out in public. But her resolve seems to have been, if I die, I die but I am going to touch Jesus' garment.
Too often we are waiting for God to do something about our situation when in reality He has already acted and is waiting for us to demonstrate faith and act as if what He said is true, (which it is). This action of faith will activate His power to fulfill His word on our behalf even as it did in this story of the woman with the issue of blood. God and His power are everywhere all the time but it takes the actions of your faith to activate His power on your behalf to meet your need. Ask God what action you need to take.
