Heart After God

Devotions:

"And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart." (‭Jeremiah‬ ‭24‬:‭7‬ KJV)

In the New Covenant God has changed the human heart from a heart of rebellion to a heart that knows Him so that we would return to Him with our whole heart.  In the New Covenant we are to follow the leading of our hearts, not our flesh.  We are a spirit being and we have a soul and live in a body.  When we are born again our spirits are made new creations and puts the desire in our spirit to follow Him wholly. Our flesh is not yet redeemed and wants to do what is wrong but God has given us the authority over our flesh.  Our soul is to be transformed by the renewing of our minds so the unrenewed mind wants to agree with our flesh but when it is renewed it will agree with our born again spirit.

God has written His law on our hearts and on our innermost beings so that we delight to do His will.  There is a desire in the born again heart to follow God.  Instead of majoring on the corruption of our flesh which we still must deal with we need to focus on the work of salvation that was started when we receive what Jesus did for us.  God's work in our heart changed our "want to".  In Christ we want to walk in purity and holiness.  Sin is our enemy to deceive and destroy us, but we have been set free from the power of sin by His life in us.  Christians want to do the will of the Father.  We do this imperfectly but the more we confess who we are and the new desires that the Father placed in us the more we walk in the victory of the reality. His will is my delight.  Jesus came only to do the will of the Father and this is the life within us.  The zeal for the house of God consumed Jesus and as He is so are we in this world.

For victory, discover who you are in Christ and walk in what the Father has done.
