A Fixed Heart

"O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory."

(‭Psalms‬ ‭108‬:‭1‬ KJV)

God wants our hearts to be fixed or established.  In Ephesians 3 Paul talks about us being rooted and grounded in love that Christ might dwell in our hearts through faith. We are born of Christ's resurrection and He dwells in us through the Holy Spirit but His presence does us no good unless we walk in faith in His indwelling presence.  When we are established in His presence within us and His cleansing us by His blood so that we are worthy by His blood then the enemy cannot convince us that God our Father does not love us.  Our posistion that we are to be established in is that we are in Christ.  Because we are in Christ, we have a secure relationship with our Father.  We then pursue to develope our relationship with our Father to come to know Him.  The more we know Him the more sin drops off of us and the more we want to get to know Him.  The more we know Him the more we are singing and praising Him for who He is and what He has done for us.

We see the reality of this as expressed by Paul, "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;" (‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭18-20‬ KJV)

Being filled with the Spirit is a direct results of our redemption and being made righteous by the Blood of Jesus.  Our heart is fixed on the love of God for us as demonstrated in our redemption.
