Heal the Brokenhearted

Devotions:
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord." (Luke 4:18-19 KJV)
All that Jesus did, He did by the Spirit of God. He operated as a man anointed by the Spirit and not as God. Here in the King James version we see that He came to heal the brokenhearted. We are all broken by the devices of satan through men. God's design originally was that we be whole men and women which only comes through Him.
There are two types of brokenness. One is a brokenness which sin wroughts when it ravages our souls and bodies. Jesus came to beal this brokenness. The other type of brokenness is when our independence and pride are broken to do the will of the Fahter. This is when we realize that we are totally dependent upon God and we can do nothing without Him. This is the union in which we were created to operate. God paid a dear price that we would be made whole but not that we would be independent from Him. He is our wholeness. He is our fulfillment. If we had nothing else in the world but Him we would have more than enough.
We are in the acceptable year of the Lord, the year of Jubilee in which all goes free and all that was lost is restored. All that was lost by Adam's sin is to be restored by the Spirit of God. Do not settle for anything less than the very best that God has to offer.
