Repentence

Devotions:
Many believe that we must confess our sins inorder to be forgiven. What does scripture say?
“Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32 NASB
“bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.” Colossians 3:13 NASB
When we received Jesus we repented, turned from trying to save ourselves and embracing the mercy and grace of God's salvation in Jesus. At that point we received the forgiveness that was purchaced at the cross. This forgiveness was for all our sin. Jesus is the full satisfaction before the Father for our sins and not for ours only but for the sins of the whole world. Our sins are no longer the issue our forgiveness is in Jesus. When we sin His blood covers us and cleanses us of our sin. Our spirits were made righteous at the new birth and that does not change.
“Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.”
Romans 8:1-2 NASB
The repentence comes as we experience His goodness and are changed by that goodness into His likeness. Our repentence is in response to His love not in fear of His judgement.
“Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?” Romans 2:4 NASB
God's desire, God's provision is for us to walk in conformance with Him our of a heart of love for Him. So we have the opportunity to daily behold His love for us and be transformed. We then operate not under a works mandate but in a love atmosphere, secure in His love that never changes.
