Who is Lord

In the Garden of Eden, when satan deceived Eve, one of the lies he told her was that if she rejected God's authority over her, she could be her own lord. He continues to tell this lie today. Secular saying is that "I am the the captain of my own ship, the master of my own fate." There is a little truth to this. The most important part to this is that when we hear the Gospel of Salvation we can then make a choice to accept it or not. We can choose to switch lords. When Adam and Eve sinned the switched lords from God, the Lord of Glory, to satan. They did not become their own lords. They were not created with that capacity. So when we receive Jesus we turning from a lord who is ruthless, cruel, cold and hard hearted with no mercy or compassion to a loving, compassionate, tender hearted Lord who cares for us tenderly and affectionately watches over us diligently.
Many people and even Christians still believe the lie of satan that they are their own lords. But if they have not made Jesus Lord of their lives then they are under servitude to sin and satan. Some people rebel at the thought of being in servitude and submitted to God but they do not realize that they are in servitude to satan and sin.
“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Joshua 24:15 KJV
