To Know the Ways of Glod

Devotions:

Moses prayed three prayers to God in the book of Exodus.  The first was to know the ways of God so that he would not offend God and walk in His favor.

“And Moses said unto the Lord, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight. Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.”  ‭Exodus‬ ‭33:12-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.”                   ‭Psalms‬ ‭103:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Israel only knew the acts of God and did not understand why He did what He did. Israel was then in and out of the will of God constantly and was on the verge of being destroyed.  Moses on the other hand understood the ways of God. Why? Because he asked to know the ways of God.  Israel did not care to know the ways of God and so they did not ask nor expect to receive.  Here in Exodus Moses' reason for asking to know the ways of God was to know God and know how to walk with God and find favor in His sight.

Paul teaches us also to ask to know the ways of God.

“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;”  ‭Colossians‬ ‭1:9-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus said that if we asked we would receive.  So as with Moses we ask to know the ways of God.  In Isaiah 55 we are told that God's ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts.  His ways and His thoughts are so much higher than our ways and thoughts.  God wants us to rise up to His ways and His thoughts.  He never fails and neither will we when we are walking in His ways and thinking His thoughts after Him.

Seek to know God's ways and God's thoughts that you would walk in His favor all the time.
