God's Strength
Devotions:
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalms 27:1 KJV
Even in the Old Testament the people of God saw God as their strength. They knew that they did not have enough strength within them to live. Here David says that God is the strength of his life. How much more in the New Covenant?
“That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;” Ephesians 3:16 KJV
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”
Ephesians 6:10 KJV
So we are to quit looking to our own strength and look to the strength that the Lord provides to live our day to day life. Too often we think, well in an emergency I will look to the Lord for strength. David did not say that, he said that God was the strength of his life and he did not add, just in an emergency.
Paul said in Ephesians that we are to pray that we would be strengthened by might by His Spirit in the inner man. He did not add just for emergency. Our strength from the Lord is a daily necessity but if we do not ask in faith that God will do what He said and supply it, we will not receive it.
Also notice that Paul said to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, not our own strength, not only in an emergency but daily every moment. We come to realize that I could not even take the next breath without the Lord's strength. I could not put two words togther without the Lord's strength.
Thank you Lord that you are the strength of my life and in your strength I will stand.
“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” John 15:5 KJV
