Pleasing God
Devotions:
Paul in his letters first talks about the work of God in the life of the believer. Paul majors on the fact that we are born of God, we are born again righteous, holy and forgiven. We are sons of the most high God, highly favored by Him. He has given us authority over all that the enemy tries to bring on us. We must become convinced of these facts and believe in them we then begin to start acting accordingly.
“Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” John 6:28-29 KJV
Our salvation is in believing on Jesus. We are pleasing the Father as we believe what God has done and we see, understand and appreciate that our salvation covers every aspect of our existence.
John Piper says that "God is most glorified when we are the most satisfied in Him." This is not putting on a front of appearing to be satisfied in order to look pleasing to God. It is finding that His finished work of salvation is the most thoroughly satisfying in which we can ever experience and even live. God's delight and good pleasure is that we have our every need met in Him and He is the only one who can truly meet our every need.
In knowing this we should set our hearts to seek His face especially in the area of our needs and watch as God moves on our behalf to fulfill His promises to us. We cannot manipulate God. It is His desire to bless us in every area of our lives.
Paul will also talk about then living in the light of who we are in Christ. We do not act like who God has made us because we art still believing that we are the old man, the man of sin rather than a new creation in Christ. God says that there is no good besides Him but we go to the world to try to find fun and excitement. But living in God is the most and most exciting life there is to live. Where the things of the world bring death in God there is no death.
