Looking For the Blessed Hope

“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”
Titus 2:13-14 KJV
We are to be looking at Jesus and not ourselves, our short comings or our failures or imperfections. We are to look for the blessed hope of when our salvation will be complete when we receive our new bodies like unto Jesus which will happen at the appearing of Jesus. Jesus gave Himself for us to redeem us from all iniquity. We could not and cannot redeem ourselves nor purify ourselves, yet many Christians have that thought that after they receive Jesus it is up to them to complete the work that Jesus began. They cannot! He has made us a peculiar people unto Himself, that is we are God's special treasure set apart for blessing. When we understand that we have been set apart to receive and walk in God's goodness we become zealous for good works. This zealousness comes from basking in the love of the Father.
This is all His doing and all we are to do is receive it. We are in receivership from God and there is absolutely no way to pay Him back or earn it or merit this goodness and favor. When we understand this we eagerly look for that blessed hope and glorious appearing with earnest expectation knowing that no person on earth and nothing can deter the culmination of what God has started and the glorious results that He will accomplish in us.
