God's Delight

 January 22, 2016

Devotions:

When we know that God delights in us as much as He delights in Jesus.  The Father's love for Jesus is unquestionable and He has the same love for us.  Our problem is that we are so clouded by the lies of Satan that we doubt that love and every opportunity.  This is what Israel did.  When they came across a life threatening situation they would gripe and complain, inspite of this God would answer and give them a miracle and they would rejoice.  This would last until the next set of circumstances would confront them then they would forget the Lord's provision and gripe and complain, doubting the Father's love for them again.  They did not have the demonstration of the Father's love which we have in the sacrifice of His Son for our sins.

God sent His son to die for us because He delights in us, not just tolerates us.  His delight is based on His love not on our performance.  When we receive His unconditional love in the sacrifice of His Son for our sins then His love transforms us into new creations.  All that the Father asks us to do He will perform within us by the power of His indwelling Spirit.  His greatest problem is our self righteousness, our efforts to perform inorder to merit His love for us.  We cannot deserve or merit His love but He freely gives it to us.  Our total focus should be on His great love for us as demonstrated in Jesus.  We should seek to enter His pleasure for us daily and walk in that pleasure.  This is not earning or doing, it is just receiving our eternal status with Him.

Old Charismatic song: Oh, how He loves you and me, He gave His life what more could He do, Oh how He loves you, Oh how He loves me, Oh how He loves you and me.
