Works of Jesus

Devotions:

        Everything that Jesus did, He did by the Spirit of God. He did nothing of His own initiative.  All that He did was by the direction of the Father.  He was first anointed by the Spirit of God when He was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. 

“Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.” ‭Luke‬ ‭3:21-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” ‭Luke‬ ‭4:18-19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”

        Jesus said that we would do the same works that He did and more we then must do these works by the same means that Jesus did them, by the power of the Holy Spirit. We believers then receive the gift of the Holy Spirit after we are born again and we are endued with power for on high to do the ministry that God has called us to.  Jesus also followed the leading of the Holy Spirit and did as He showed Him.

“Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.” ‭John‬ ‭5:19-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.”

        We are to do the works of Jesus the way that Jesus did them as Sons of the Father, doing the will of the Father by the anointing of the Father.
