Kingdom Righteousness

Devotions:

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”  ‭Matthew‬ ‭6:33‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus was teaching the Old Covenant Jews when He made this statement.  They were not in the kingdom of God and they did not have the righteousness of God, yet.  The kingdom of God came at the death, burial, resurrection and ascention of Jesus and His glorification.

“But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” ‭Luke‬ ‭12:31-32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”  ‭Luke‬ ‭17:20-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness is the new birth.  We are made new creations in His image and His likeness.  We are given the gift of righteousness and have the kingdom within us.  It came into us when He imparted eternal life into us when we received Jesus' substitutionary sacrifice for us.  We are kingdom people.  So all that Jesus was talking about before in Matthew 6 is ours.  We do not seek it we have it.  We are not to worry about food, shelter, clothing or any need because we are Sons of God.  We are in the kingdom by His grace and His kingdom is in us. Our problem is that we have not believed the great love that He has for us.

The most heinous disease, the most fatal sickness is nothing for us because there is not sickness and disease in the kingdom and we are in the kingdom.  We do not walk in what is ours because we are this side of the cross and we are trying to seek something they were told to seek on the other side of the cross, we already have it.  When we continually seek for what we already have then we do not recognize what we have.

We are sons of the kingdom, male and female because of His great love for us and the grace that flowed from that love.  Do not look at past experiences or circumstances but readjust your thinking to think like an heir of the kingdom in good standing with the King.  Do not seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness if you are born again, you have the kingdom and His righteousness.  Start rejoicing in the provisions already made for you,  Matthew 6: 25-34
