The Renewed Life
Devotions:
“Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.”
Psalms 103:5 NASB
“Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.”
Psalms 103:5 KJV
This is the last in the list of things that are benefits from the Lord that David says that we are to bless the Lord for. God's intention is for us not only to live long lives but healthy, youthful lives. The New American Standard Bible says that if we have a good life, worry free then we will live more youthful lives. God never intended for human beings to get old so the aging factor is sin and the guilt and condemnation that results from sin. When God showed up in the garden after Adam and Eve sinned, Adam and Eve hid themselves out of guilt and shame. The key to living a stress free life is first knowing your permanent forgiveness from God and then guard our mouth. It is by our words that we walk in the peace that is ours from God. When we speak good about ourselves and about others.
“A tranquil heart is life to the body, But passion is rottenness to the bones.”
Proverbs 14:30 NASB
“He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness, And speaks truth in his heart. He does not slander with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor takes up a reproach against his friend;”
Psalms 15:2-3 NASB
If we want to live our lives out in youthfulness then we must displine ourselves to only speak good about people including ourselves. This means no gossip even if it is true, find something good to say about the person and the situation.
“A fool's lips bring strife, And his mouth calls for blows. A fool's mouth is his ruin, And his lips are the snare of his soul.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Proverbs 18:6-7, 21 NASB
