Devotions:
“Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; " Psalms 103:2-3 NASB
In listing the areas to bless the Lord for the first two that David mentions is that God pardons all our iniquities and that He heals all our diseases. These two are connected. First note that God pardons ALL our iniquities. This is for all time. This is the reason that Jesus went to the cross. So David was looking forward to the cross where we were pardoned forever. This is why Paul in Romans 8:1 says that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. And
“Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies; who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.” Romans 8:33-34 NASB
Closely related to the forgiveness of sin is the healing of our bodies. Notice that He heals all or our diseases. Disease was not a part of God's original creation but it was introduced with the sin of Adam. The root of sickness and disease is sin whether it is individual sin or the sin passed down from Adam. So when the root was deal with, He forgives ALL our iniquities, then the fruit, sickness and disease, has no choice but to leave.
The just shall live by faith. These things do not just happen but when we as believers, members of the covenant, believe the work of Jesus in forgiving our sins and healing our diseases and we speak to our circumstances of sickness or disease it must obey. When Jesus cursed the fig tree in Mark 11 it did not shrivel up immediately but Jesus knew that it had no choice but to die. So when Peter pointed it out to Jesus the next day after Jesus cursed it, this was no supprise to Jesus.
Bless the Lord O my soul, my sins and iniquities are pardoned and my sickness and diseases have been healed.
