The Ways of God

Devotions:

“Now therefore, I pray You, if I have found favor in Your sight, let me know Your ways that I may know You, so that I may find favor in Your sight. Consider too, that this nation is Your people."”

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭33:13‬ ‭NASB‬‬

“He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.”  ‭Psalms‬ ‭103:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Make me know Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths.”  ‭Psalms‬ ‭25:4‬ ‭NASB‬‬

“Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭86:11‬ ‭NASB‬‬

“"THEREFORE I WAS ANGRY WITH THIS GENERATION, AND SAID, 'THEY ALWAYS GO ASTRAY IN THEIR HEART, AND THEY DID NOT KNOW MY WAYS ';”. ‭Hebrews‬ ‭3:10‬ ‭NASB‬‬

Israel saw what God did in performing miracles but they did not know why He did what He did.  Moses asked to know the ways of God. Why did God do the mighty miracles to deliver them from Egypt.  They only recognized the miracles and stood in wonder and awe but never understood why.  According to the writer of Hebrews, they went astray in their hearts because they did not understand the reason that God delivered them, they did not know His ways nor want to know His ways.  In not knowing His ways then they felt free to live like they wanted to live, they thought they had no moral obligation to live right.

We make the same mistake when we see the miracles but do understand the motive behind the mighty acts of God.  We hunger for the supernatural but as with the Israelites the signs, wonder and miracles do little good if we do not understand God's motive.  We will come for the show but not be persuaded to stop sinning.

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:4‬ ‭NASB‬‬

The way of God is His great love that He has for us.  All that He does is out of His love.  Moses asked God to show him His ways.  David asked God to show him His ways.  These were mighty men of God because they had a revelation of the love of God.  We have a greater demonstration of His love and we need to ask the Holy Spirit to give us the revelation of that love.

As we demonstrate the power of God in the gifts of the Spirit it is not enough for people to see miracles and hearings.  They must know the why, that God loves them with and everlasting love.  They must know that the miracles are a demonstration of God's love for them.  Do you know how much your Heavenly Father loves you?
