God's Dwelling

Devotions:

“In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel. In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.”  ‭Psalms‬ ‭76:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Judah means praise.  As we praise God, God makes Himself known to us.  Psalm 22:3 says that God inhabits the praises of His people.  As we make our life a life of praise we will walk with our God and know Him.  He is the source for every good and perfect gift so all praise is due Him.  The more we praise Him the more established we become in His goodness and the more assured we are that He will do exactly as He has said in His word.  God is known in His praises.

“And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.”  ‭Genesis‬ ‭32:28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Here we see that the name Israel means "prince". We are called to be kings and priest unto our God.  We minister to Him in our priestly capacity and then we receive His authority and rule on this earth as a king.  In the New Covenant we have the Name that is above every name, Jesus.  We rule in His name and exalt Jesus above every other name.

Salem is peace.  God dwells in peace and has given us His peace.  If you are in turmoil then you are not where God wants you to be.  Philippians 4:6 tells us to pray and cast the care of our concerns upon Him.  Them implication is that we are confident that He has heard our prayer and supernatural peace will surround and protect us.  When you are in peace you are in God's dwelling place.  Zion is the place of His authority, the hill of His delight.  All of His authority He has placed in Zion.  Zion is the hill on which Jerusalem is founded and it is the place where Christ was crucified.

“Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.”  ‭Psalms‬ ‭2:6-9‬ ‭KJV‬‬
