Federal Head

        “And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.”

        Here we see Paul talking first about federal headship which is the doctrine of origins.  Adam was the first, the fountainhead of a race of beings, humans.  Jesus was the last Adam which is the fountainhead of a new race of beings.  Adam and Jesus are the only federal heads.  The first Adam and the last Adam so there is no other federal heads to come after Jesus. 

        The second phrase talking about the first man and the second man.  The first and is Adam the second man is Jesus.  Becasue of the wording, the first man and the second man means that there is a third and a fourth and so on.  There is only two federal heads but we can be partakers of the second federal head even as we were part of first federal head.  We were born into the first federal head when we were born and we change frederal heads when we believe what Jesus did for us and are born again.  As we were partaker of the death from our first Father so we partake of life from our new Father.

        At birth we are all given a basis to start from our DNA.  In the new birth we are given our Father's nature and character, a spiritual DNA to live from.  This then is our identity, and the more we acknowledge who we are and believe what God has done the more of a reality it will be to us.
