Devotions:
“His own iniquities will capture the wicked, And he will be held with the cords of his sin. He will die for lack of instruction, And in the greatness of his folly he will go astray.”
Proverbs 5:22-23 NASB
“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."”
Luke 19:10 NASB
Sin traps us and destroys us. We cannot play with sin and expect to walk untouched by the destructiveness of sin. Many try to play with dope thinking that they can handle it but they become snared by the dope. So it is with all sin many think that they can handle it and it will not hurt them but it snares them and destroys them, sinner and Saint alike. People in the world are on their way to destruction because of sin that. They cannot seem to get away from. But Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost. Jesus came to set the captives free.
The first thing that He did was to bear the full penalty for our sin. In doing this He forgave us all our sins and iniquites but He also demonstrated His great love for us. When He died on the cross, we died to sin and ot the law. He reconcile us to our Heavenly Father.
When He rose from the dead by th power of resurrection life because the penalty had been fully paid, He rose righteous and we rose righteous with Himby the power of the resurrection life. That life made us new creations in Christ Jesus, holy and righteous before our Father.
It is by this new life, resurrection life, that is in us that we are saved and walk in His ways of love. His love shed abroad in our hearts which is a product of His love demonstrated on our behalf that we walk in. We are saved by His life in us.
Sin no longer has any authority over us to make us it's slave and cruely punish us and destroy us. But the children of God do not know this and so we yield to the bondage. Jesus came to set us free and He did. No longer yield yourself to the power of sin but set your affections on Jesus. If you do fall and sin, set your affections on Jesus and receive your forgiveness. His love demonstrated will transform you to the point that you will not even want to sin. Do not focus on the sin and your efforts to try stopping but focus on Jesus in thanksgiving and praise. Freedom.
