Power

Devotions:

“And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” ‭Matthew‬ ‭10:1, 7-8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” ‭Acts‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The same power to heal the sick that Jesus gave the disciples is upon us.  This is the power of God, not a portion of the power but His power.  We access this power by faith.  When Jesus, Peter, James and John came down from the mountain of transfiguration, a man with a demon possessed boy met them and asked Jesus to cast the demon out.  He had asked the disciples to do it and they could not because the demon made a demonstration and got the disciples out of faith and into doubt.  Jesus cast the demon out and when asked why the disciple could not do it, He said that it was because of the littleness of their faith.  They had the power that Jesus gave here in Matthew 10 but the devil tricked them and got them into doubt and they could not access the power on them.

The church as a whole has been silent because of doubt and unbelief that stopped the power from flowing and setting the captive free. We do not believe what Jesus said, that power would come upon us to do the works that He did.  The power is there in the new birth and in a greater measure in the baptism of the Holy Spirit.  We must believe that His power is in me and His power is upon me to set the captive free from sickness, disease, oppression and depression, from all the work of the enemy.  It is not my worthiness but Jesus' worthiness.  The more you focus on the power through praise and thanksgiving for what you have, the more you will see it manifest in your life.
