Wanting God

Devotions:

        “And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.”  ‭Jeremiah‬ ‭24:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

        If you are a Christian, that is born again, then God has given you a heart to follow Him.  You may still be trapped in the lies of sin and condemnation but your in your heart you want to follow God with all your being. The gospel of grace is not only was your heart changed and your were given the desire to follow God but also all of your sins have been wiped out as if you had never sinned and God placed His Spirit with in you to empower you to overcome all temptations.  Your flesh still wants to do wrong but you have authority over your flesh.  Sin is no longer your lord, Jesus is your Lord.  Satan tricked you into thinking that your were your own lord when really, sin was your lord but now you have changed lordships, Jesus is your Lord.  As lord of your life, sin was designed to destroy you.  Thank God that you have changed and made Jesus your Lord. 

        “Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you-unless indeed you fail the test?”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭13:5‬ ‭NASB‬‬

        Do you pass the test? Do you know that Christ is in you? The Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. There is no other way to be a Christian than to be born again, born of His Spirit so that you have a spirit to know God, a hunger and thirst to know the living God and this is what controls you. 

        Jeremiah 24:7 is a good confession to make about yourself all the time, I have a heart to know God, that He is my Lord.  I am a child of God and He is my God and I turn to Him will my whole heart.
