Seek His Face

“When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭27:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Our very life and all blessings come from His presence. This Old Testament believer, David, only had a limited righteousness. We have a perfect righteousness so as we seek the face of the Lord we will come into His full presence. Moses had to be hid in a cleft of a rock so he would not see the fullness of God's face, His goodness.  Moses was still in his sin even though he had been counted righteous.

We have been not only counted righteous, we have been made righteous, the righteousness of God, by the new birth. Moses saw the hinder parts of God's glory and his face glowed with the life of God, fading as it was.  We have the invitation to boldly enter in before the throne of grace to receive mercy and grace to help in the time of need.  We are not entering into the throne room of God and hiding behind a piece of furniture and in a shy, sheepish voice quietly ask if perchance God might help us.  No! We are to enter in with boldness and confidence based on what Jesus did.  We do not need to be in need to boldly come to the throne.  David says here that the Father tells us to seek His face with all our hearts.

“Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29:12-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”  ‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:6-7‬ ‭KJV‬‬
