Thirsting for God

Devotions:

“Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.”  ‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:1-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The first qualification need to receive from the Lord is to thirst.  A horse that has not had water to drink for a long time, when he smells water will run wildly to the water to drink.  His need will drive him to meet that need.  When we understand our desparate need for God we will run into His presence just to spend time with Him. God, through the prophet Isaiah, says that the waters that we so long for, that our hearts yearn for are available and free.  We just need to come and partake of that which has been made available.

He ask why do we spend our substance for that which will not satisfy? Why do we spend our time in things  that bring no fulfillment.  God's presence will fulfill you like nothing else can.  God's table is not a lean table, not a table of scarcity but a table of fatness, richness and abundance.

How do we feast at His table set for us? By harkening to His word, to the voice of His Spirit as He breaths life into us.  He talks about delighting ourselves in the things of the Lord.  He only has good things for us, it is the enemy that steal, kills and destroys.  So we can be confident in His presence of being blessed and not cursed.

Last He says here that He will make a covenant with us, That covenant is Jesus. It is an everlasting covenant which cannot be broken.  It is a covenant of the sure mercies of David. David was one of the most blessed men in the Bible. That blessing is yours!
