Doing the Works of Jesus

Devotions:
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” John 14:12 KJV
“And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:" Mark 3:14-15 KJV
As believers we are to do the works of Jesus. That is everyone who has received eternal life. Also you will never do the works Jesus ordained you to do unless you believe that God can work through you to do those works.
Here in Mark 3 when Jesus sent out His disciples to do the works that He had done we notice that He first appointed them that they would be wth Him. You cannot do the works of Jesus unless you spend time with Him. In John 14 Jesus said that doing the works that He did would be possible because He went to the Father. That was after He bore our sins and was raised from the dead. That means that He totally dealt with our sins so we have a righteous standing before the Father. But we have to act on that standing by boldly spending time in the Father's presence as Jesus did and as the disciples did. Our calling is first to spend time with Him. As we spend time with Him we become coworkers with Him. We see what He does and we do it. As we spend time with Him He will send us forth to do what He called us to do. We must not try to copy someone else or fulfill what we think someone else wants us to do but we hear from the Father and do what He tells us to do. As we do what God tells us to do, He empowers us to do it. This is how we become His co-laborer. Our works take on a supernatural element because we have been with Him and set out to do His will.
