Exercise Unto Godliness

Devotions:
“Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.”
Romans 6:12-14 KJV
“But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.”
1 Timothy 4:7-8 KJV
In Romans Paul tells us that we have been set free from sin. That means that we were set free from the judgement for sin and from the power of sin. The same power that set us free from sickness and disease set us free from sin. We still have to believe and act on our faith to see healing manifested but it is ours already bought and paid for by Jesus. The more we believe in the liberating work of the Holy Spirit the freer we will walk.
Here in Timothy Paul tells us to make a conscious choice to exercise unto godliness. When we want to get in shape we must make a choice to start exercising in the natural whether it is going to a gym or starting a set of exercises on our own. To exercise unto godliness is to set our goal to walk like Jesus walked free from the defilement of the world. The freedom is already ours so we just need to spend time meditating in the word of God about who God says that He has made us.
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?” John 8:31-33 KJV
Choose to believe God's word! Choose to exercise unto Godliness. This is profitable now and in the life to come. This is necessary to fulfill the ministry that Jesus has given you.
