The Root

“The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭12:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Christianity is not a set of rules to follow but a transformation.  When we received what Christ did for us we were transformed from a sinner to a new creation, created in righteousness and true holiness.  God changed the root from being a bad root to a good root, a root of righteousness.  As a sinner we bore the fruit of sin.  As a righteous person we will bear the fruit of righteousness.  This is a process of displacing the teachings of sin in our being and replacing them with understanding of righteousness.  We no longer have a sin nature! We no longer are a sinner!

“For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:15-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We are no longer sinners but how do we over come the sin factor? It is by the life of Jesus within us.  He said that if we believed on Him we would have eternal life.  This is the new root.  This is the life and nature of God Himself.  The more then that we focus on Jesus and what He has done the freer we will walk.  Satan tries to steal our joy and peace by focusing our attention on our failures and away from Jesus' perfection for us.  We focus on Jesus' finished work and follow the Holy Spirit within us, which is the life of God in us.
