Forgiveness

Devotions:
In the Old Testament, one day a year, the day of atonement, the high priest would take the blood of the sacrifice in before the mercy seat in the Holy of Holies and sprinkle the blood. Only when this was done and accepted did the Israelites know that their sins were forgiven for that year. They had to continually confess their sins and offer sacrifices to atone for their sins through out the year.
In the New Covenant we have one sacrifice, the Lord Jesus, that has totally satisfied the Father forever. He is the propitiation for our sins and not for ours only but for the sins of the whole world. That is Jesus in His sacrifice paid the price for all of our sins forever.
In the Old Testament, and the Gospels are a part of the Old Covenant, the children of Israel had to forgive in order to be forgiven. In the New Covenant we are already for given so we should forgive.
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32 KJV
“Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.” Colossians 3:13 KJV
Too forgive others it takes walking by the power of the greater one in you who cannot help but to forgive. If we do not forgive then there are natural consequences that we open ourselves up to but it is not God.
They way of the kingdom is to walk in forgiveness with all those around you. This is walking in the love of God.
