Child Training

“Blessed is the man whom You chasten, O LORD, And whom You teach out of Your law;”
Psalms 94:12 NASB
If you want to be a success financially then you must educate yourself in the financial realm. You must start thinking as a financially successful person thinks. If we have a financial mentor they will chasten us, teach us how to succeed.
Many times we get the wrong impression that chastening here is talking about punishment. When raising a child our job is to train them how to act, to train them in manners, and how to respect their elders, to train them how to eat properly, how to pray, how to work hard and be honest. A part of that may be punishment but our goal is to bring the child to maturity in all aspects of life as much as we can.
Here in the Psalms it is talking about child training. God will teach us to conform us into His image so we quit acting like children but rise up and take responsibility as a mature, adult. God's training is to teach us to act like sons of God.
God teaches us out of His word. That is the manual that the Holy Spirit uses so if we do not spend time in the word of God daily we are missing our lessons on how to act as a son of God. The Holy Spirit is the mentor who is conforming us to the image of Christ in conjunction with the new creation, resurrection life within us. God reveals His wonderful image within us by His word.
