Why Revival Tarries 2
August 3, 2017
Devotions:
Yesterday we started talking about why revival seems to tarry. We cannot receive revival by our own works of repentence, fasting and prayer. Revival only comes from God, but we say that God is not holding back revival. So why do we not see it all the time?
“And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:” Acts 2:17 KJV
The basic answer as to why we do not see revival is because we do not believe that God poured out His Spirit, the Spirit of revival and He never took Him back. Revival is here, God has done all He is going to do. But we are waiting on God to move instead of seeing that He has already to move and He is waiting on us to believe what He has said. The Holy Spirit was poured out on the day of Pentecost but the baptism in the Holy Spirit became less and less common until God stirred it up again around 1900 and the majority of the church thought that the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues was a heresy. Even today many are in opposistion to the baptism. Then there are those who are baptised in the Holy Spirit and say now what. They keep waiting for God to move. No! We are to believe Acts 2:17 and act like it is true. Quit trying to force God, pray, fast, wish, hope that He will do what He has already done. You are the temple of God! What else do you need! FAITH in the finished work of Jesus and who He has made you to be. A revival going somewhere to happen because the God who created the universe is your partner and He dwells in you.
