The Glory of His Presence

Devotions:

““But will God indeed dwell with men on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built!”  ‭II Chronicles‬ ‭6:18‬ ‭NKJV‬

In the Old Covenant Solomon built an extravagant temple for the presence of God. Yet Solomon declared that no building could contain the presence of God.  This temple cost billions of dollars.

“Thus says the LORD: “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says the LORD.”  ‭Jeremiah‬ ‭9:23-24‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

God says here that we are not to glory in our natural ability but in that we know God.  As awesome as mankind is, he cannot compare to God.  We have the privilege of knowing God.

In the New Covenant we are the temple of God and the temple that Solomon cannot compare to the real temple which God is building with His living stones, the believer.

In the book of Jeremiah God said that the Old Covenant believer should glory in that they know God.  Our relationship with God is open and unhindered.  Our sins have been removed in Jesus.  We have the privilege of entering into an intimate relationship with God. Our heart's cry is to know God intimately.  To know His unconditional acceptance of us, His unconditional love for us, His unconditional forgiveness of us.  Solomon asks if God will dwell on earth with men but the mystery hidden from the past is that God would dwell in the hearts of man.  We know God, We are not about rituals but about relationship with our God.

Two thousand years ago God invaded the limited physical world to save mankind.  Now He wants to invade our lives that His glory would once again on mankind and in mankind.
