Body of Christ

Devotions:
Christianity is not a philosophy to subscribe to nor a set of principles to follow but a new life to receive. We are the body of Christ upon the earth. We are His hands, feet, voice, His actions on the earth. He is the head that means that He is the Lord from which we receive all of our orders. We are to walk in unity with other Christians as one body. But in a body the foot does not do the same thing that the hand does but both are necessary to life a whole life. There are some with on legs and feet or arms and hands and they still function but they are not near as efficient as we should be if we have both legs and feet and both arms and hands. When we cut ourselves off from other parts of the body of Christ we are crippling ourselves and Jesus. The body will still function without us but will be hindered in what it can do.
When we think that it is unimportant whether we go to church and participate or not then we are counting the body and our part in it as insignificant. But we need the body of Christ, in all its imperfections and the body needs us.
"Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins." (Proverbs 10:12 KJV)
"Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity." (Colossians 3:14 NASB)
To walk in unity we have to choose to walk in the supernatural love of God. We were born of that love and it is our nature. Our flesh is selfish and cannot produce the God kind of love but we have overcome the flesh through the death of Jesus which is our death. We are to walk by His life in us, the new creation, which is God's love.
To then walk like the body of Christ we must act like God's word is true no matter what our emotions tell us. Not only do we love the brethern but we are to express love and mercy to those who hate us, persecute us, that would abuse us. We are to walk in forgiveness, having tasted forgiveness from our Father when we did not deserve it.
"For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit."
"Now you are Christ's body, and individually members of it."
(1 Corinthians 12:13, 27 NASB)
Walk in the reality of the body!
