Faith in God's Goodness

Devotions:

"For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, 'BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.'" (‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬ NASB)

"And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him." (‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭6‬ NASB)

The faith that we are to have is faith in God's goodness towards us as demonstrated in the death, burial, resurreciton, ascension and seating of Jesus at the right hand of the Father on our behalf.  It is believe in His love for us. Sin is turning away from God and turning to other things to try to replace God.  So if by our actions we continually sin, we continually say that there is no God. By doing this we dull our spiritual senses towards God.

God requires us to walk in faith lest we take some of the glory due to Him which would be a lie and detrimental to us.  Jesus declared that God was the only goodness in the universe.  For us to take the glory (the credit) then we would be believing that there is some inate goodness within us apart from God, and there is not any.  Human beings have consistently proven there lack of goodness apart from God's influence.  The opposit of goodness is selfishness which always results in evil.

"I said to the LORD, 'You are my Lord; I have no good besides You.'"

(‭Psalms‬ ‭16‬:‭2‬ NASB)

The psalmist David recognized that God was the source of all his goodness.  Thank God that His goodness is available to us and we walk in it by faith.
