Hungry for Reality

Devotions:
Men and women are hungry for something that will satisfy them. We were created by God to be satisfied only by Him. Sex, drugs, fame, political power, money. even human love cannot fill the void that is in our hearts. Only God can fill it. The void was created by Him to be filled only by Him. But He willingly will fill it if we will accept His love and mercy.
"See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity; in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the LORD your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it."
(Deuteronomy 30:15-16 NASB)
This is the command in the Old Testament which no one in the Old Testament could fulfill. God's mercy was there for them but they were made to respond to love and in the Old Covenant there was only a limited demonstration of that love because the people could not receive it. In calling on God's mercy the people under the Old Covenant experienced some of God's love. It was not until the greatest demonstration of love that the universe has ever witnessed, where a God/man would lay down His life for His friends and take their full punishment, only then was love fully displayed and the ones who will receive that love are recreated in that love.
The Israelites could not fulfill the command of God but Jesus did in His life for us and through His death, burial and resurrection made the obedience available to us. When we receive what Jesus did we receive His life so not only did He obey for us and choose the YES to the Father for us but in the new birth then He will choose the YES to the Father through us as we yield to the eternal life in us.
Jesus is the eternal YES to the Father and we are a part of that YES because we are in Jesus through the new birth. His presence in us satisfies that eternal hunger as we pursue our inheritance, intimacy with our creator.
