Trembling at His Goodness

Devotions:

Many times when we hear about trembling with fear we take it to me a negitive vear of punishment.  But here God speaks through the prophet Jeremiah about the new covenant where God will cleanse us from all iniquity and pardon all our iniquities where we have sinned and trangressed in order to bless us.  We are a joy to the Lord not for our works but for His works for us and in us.  The nations are to hear the good that God does for us and fear and tremble for the goodness and prosperiety that God does for us.   (We are in Chirst so we are a part of Israel.)

"And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me. And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it."

"The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the Lord of hosts: for the Lord is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the Lord." (‭Jeremiah‬ ‭33‬:‭8-9, 11‬ KJV)

"The glory of the Lord shall endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works. He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke."

(‭Psalms‬ ‭104‬:‭31-32‬ KJV

"Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?" (‭Romans‬ ‭2‬:‭4‬ KJV)

Once again there is rejoicing and trembling of excitement at the works of the Lord done out of His goodness.  We are to get excited about all the goodness that God wants to do on our behalf and which He has already bought and paid for through the blood of Jesus.

Our response is praise and thanksgiving for His mercy endures forever.  We bring the sacrifice of praise in faith that God's Word is good and He will trun every circumstance into a blessing for us.
