Hunger for the Word of God

Devotions:
“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”
1 Peter 2:2 KJV
“Like newborn babies you should crave (thirst for, earnestly desire) the pure (unadulterated) spiritual milk, that by it you may be nurtured and grow unto [completed] salvation,” 1 Peter 2:2 AMP
When a baby is born the very best source of nutrition is the mother's milk. God designed it to meet every need of the new born. Even so new born Christians should be encouraged to start feeding on the milk of the word daily. If all a baby does is eat and never exercises it only gets fat, even so if all we do is read the word of God and even meditate on it but never do it and exercise ourselves spiritually then we get spiritually fat and unhealthy. We are to be doers of the word of God and not hearers only.
“For everyone who continues to feed on milk is obviously inexperienced and unskilled in the doctrine of righteousness (of conformity to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action), for he is a mere infant [not able to talk yet]! But solid food is for full-grown men, for those whose senses and mental faculties are trained by practice to discriminate and distinguish between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to divine or human law." Hebrews 5:13-14 AMP
We start out on milk and as we grow our diet changes to solid food. As we practicing being doers of the Word of God we are training our senses to discern the difference between good and evil. Too many in the church are still spiritual babes because they have never even had the milk of the word either from the pulpit or sought it out for themselves.
Do you hunger for the milk of the word of God to grow into maturity and start taking in the solid food of the word to grow into maturity? That hunger for the Word of God is in you. Start thanking God for the hunger and the fulfillment of that hunger.
