Heart After God

Devotions:

        “Oh that they had such a heart in them, that they would fear Me and keep all My commandments always, that it may be well with them and with their sons forever!”

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭5:29‬ ‭NASB‬‬

        This was God's desire as He expressed it to the children of Isreal. He fulfilled this in the New Covenant.  He gave us a new heart and a new spirit.  He wrote His laws upon our hearts and on our inner most being that we would delight to do His will.          

        He says that we would fear Him that is to give God the honor and respect that He deserves. He is the all powerful, all knowing God who is the wisdom of the universe.  When we do not seek His counsel or obey Him we are saying that we are smarter than He is.  All our wisdom is pure foolishness compared to the wisdom of God and God freely gives His wisdom when we ask for it.   We are to fear Him that is to give Him honor and respect and esteeming Him with highest esteem and greatest respect not only in our words but also in our actions.  He completely knows us and what we will do and say even before we say or do anything.  

        God's way is the way of success always.  As we walk in His way doing His commandments and teach our children then we will be prosperous and successful in all that we do.  In the New Covenant we have the added advantage of His life within us and the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit within us.  The Holy Spirit is God of God's co-equal with the Father and the Son.  So in looking for the leading of the Holy Spirit and givining His leading priority in our lives is honoring God.  

         As we take time to meditate on the word of God until we get the revelation of the word we can then act on what has been revealed and receive the benifit of His blessings.  

        We have a heart after God because He has placed it in us.
