Overcomers in This Life

Devotions:

“When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill. This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet: "HE HIMSELF TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES AND CARRIED AWAY OUR DISEASES."”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭8:16-17‬ ‭NASB‬‬

“and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.”  ‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:24‬ ‭NASB‬‬

A part of redemptive truth is that Jesus bore all of our sickness and totally removed our diseases from us. He also bore our sins and became sin for us.  We need to meditate on these passages until we see in our minds eye Jesus becoming our sickness and disease and becoming our sin.  Many scriptures in the Old Testament tells how God would heal them but it never told how.  Now we know that Jesus became our sickness when He was scourged.

But that is only half of the story.  Jesus not only bore all our sickness, diseases, sin, all the curse.  Jesus died under with all these results of sin.  But He rose again on the third day.  He overcame all sin, sickness, disease, and alll the rest of the curse.  Not only did he remove them from us but He overcame them and then gave to every believer the spirit of overcoming, the Holy Spirit who had given Him the victory.

“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:11‬ ‭NASB‬‬

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith. Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”  ‭1 John‬ ‭5:4-5‬ ‭NASB‬‬

Father I look to your overcoming life in me to heal, prosper, deliver me from all the work of the devil.  If Jesus had not been successful in redemption He would not have arisen from the dead. But He did and we rose with Him, we overcame all these when He did.
