Who We Are
January 28, 2016
Devotions:
Too often we treate our Christianity and the work of the Holy Spirit as an improvement program. We are trying to be a better Christianit. The renewal of our mind is not to make us better Christians. It is not a self improvement program where the Holy Spirit is trying to clean up our act. The first work of the Holy Spirit is to kill us and then raise us to newness of life as a new creation. We are then transformed as we behold Jesus. The work of the Holy Spirit is then to reveal Jesus to us. This transforms us, why because He reveals in Jesus who we are. In our spirit at the new birth we were made just like Jesus. The more we see Jesus the more our true being surfaces which looks just like Jesus.
The renewal of our minds is the revelation of who we are in Him so that we stop acting like the old person of the world, who we use to be, and act like who we are.
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
Galatians 2:20 KJV
So it is not trying to become who we think God wants us to be but it is discovering who God has made us. God is not trying to change us, He is bringing revelation of who He has already changed us to be in Christ. This is the real you, your righteous, holy born again spirit. Because of this you are blessed of God beyond measure.
