Power to Live
Devotions:
The power of God is not just to do signs, wonders and miracles but also to live a holy life. Our life should be sin free because sin will destroy us. God is against sin because it will damage and destroy us.
“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.”
Romans 6:6, 13-14 KJV
We are to live by the holy life of God in us that was imparted to us by the new birth. We are to live by the power of the Holy Spirit who dwells with in us. This empowering does not just happen, we walk in that power by faith in His indwelling presence. Sin then no longer have any power over us if we will choose to believe what God has done. Our faith comes from hearing what God has done for us. We develop an expectation of His power quickening our weakness. Paul learned to relish his weakness because then he could see the power of God made perfect in him.
“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
1 John 4:4 KJV
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.”
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 KJV
