Walk with God
Devotions:
“Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:1-4 NASB
At issue in our salvation is the weakness of our flesh. It cannot perform what is required by God. Some would say, if you are in sin you just need to repent. But repenting in the flesh puts you in a cycle of repenting, failing, feeling condemned and eventually giving up. But here Paul says that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. That is Jesus took all of our imperfections and sins upon Himself and paid the full penalty for those sins, past, present and future. So there is no condemnation when we miss it, yield to the flesh and sin. Second our victory comes from following the leading of the Spirit. This for one means that our perfection is in Jesus as He has made us new creations and dwells in us by His Spirit.
To follow the leading of the Holy Spirit we must seek to develop and intimacy with the person of the Holy Spirit. We must spend time in His presence. Praying in tongues is very helpful to enable us to break through the barrier of our flesh and be open to the spirit realm where God dwells. God communicates with our spirit because He is a spirit being. So we are to walk not by what our five senses tell us or our emotions tell us but by how our spirit guides us. When we do this we will walk in God's way with God. It is not difficult but it requires spending time with God in fellowship and in His word. This journey begins with taking the first step.
