Choose Life

Devotions:

“In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭12:28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:” Deuteronomy‬ ‭30:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There are physical laws that govern our world.  The law of gravity works all the time unless it is super ceded by a greater law.  The same with the spiritual world there are laws that govern how it works and they work all the time.  As the law of gravity, any time someone steps off a high place they fall.

God told the children of Israel the spiritual laws, the Ten Commandments that if they would follow them they would live but they could not follow them so His mercy was there for them.  These Commandments describe the nature and character of God. Jesus lived our of life not out of trying to follow the law which was a description of who He is.  In the New Covenant He did not impart to us a new set of laws or a greater expansion of laws but He imparted His life, which the law described.  Because He made us righteous we have His life in us.  As we learn to walk by that righteousness we walk in life.  Our righteous nature does not change.

“Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.”  ‭1 John‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We have His sinless nature because we have His life. When we walk by the spirit we walk in the ways of life. If we walk in the flesh, trying to perform God's will in our own strength we will fail and experience misery, but as we are born of God we will still go to heaven.
